WHAT TO EXPECT

Perhaps you've not been to therapy before and are hesitant about what to expect?

Perhaps you are wondering where to even begin in what you want to talk about?

Perhaps it's always felt difficult for you to ask for help and support for others?

So why work with me?

I offer a therapeutic space that feels safe and reassuring, allowing you to bring your whole self; even the parts that you may hide from others. People have described my therapeutic style as warm, attentive and personable. I strongly emphasise authenticity and connectiveness so that you feel heard, understood and seen. I'm respectful but challenging at times when clarity and a fresh perspective can help you change old, unhelpful habits. I encourage you to make positive changes in your life and to discover (or perhaps re-discover) the tenacity of your unique human spirit!

Please call, email or complete the 'Contact Me' form in order to connect with me. I aim to reply to any message within 3-5 working days.

I offer a free 15 minute introductory phone call to say 'Hello' and answer any questions or queries you may have. We'll use this time to decide whether meeting up has the potential to be a 'good-fit'. During this call we will set up a time and place to meet, either online or face-to-face.

If you are a parent/carer making the referral for a young person (16+) we will discuss the suitability of you attending the first session and/or any subsequent. My preference is that I initially meet with the young person face-to-face rather than online.

My sessions are 50 minutes (individual) and 60 minutes (couple) long.

During our first session, called the assessment session, we will explore your reasons for coming to therapy and how I can best help. We will establish whether our work will be short or long term in nature.

Once our work has commenced we will regularly review (usually 6-12 weeks) your progress and our therapeutic direction.

Please note:

  • This is not a crisis service so if you require immediate urgent support please contact your GP, Samaritans (116 123) or Emergency Services.

  • Face-to-face sessions may be limited or moved online according to Government guidance relating to Covid-19.

  • Privacy Notice regarding holding of data in accordance with GDPR available on request.
